R I L L I / Q U I L T

Rilli is a single person sized colorful bed cover, which is peculiar to this region. They are made by local women with hands by sewing together small pieces of various colorful cloths. The Rilli is one of the cultural symbols of district Tharparkar.

C A R P E T W E A V I N G

Even though the carpet weaving is now done at industrial level by machines in the world, but in district Tharparkar the carpets are still wove traditionally on wooden Khaddi (carpet weaving loom) by the locals. The locals usually work from six to eight hours a day, turning yarns of richly coloured wool into tremendous looking complexly designed carpets.

Ajrak is a block printed shawl made with hand, by stamping various colors in patterns and designs. The colors which are used in making Ajrak are usually red, black, blue and brown. The Ajrak is made in the area of Kachh of district Tharparkar.
